Understanding the Causes of Cellulite
Cellulite, which involves dimples to appear on the skin, can be caused by many different things. Cellulite is usually visible on the abdomen, pelvic region and legs and can occur anytime after puberty. Although fat deposits that accumulate below the surface of the skin are the direct cause of cellulite, you don't have to be overweight to get this condition. The following are some of the possible causes of cellulite.

Genetics seem to play an important role in the development of cellulite. Modern research shows that our genes have a lot to do with our appearance, and are tendency to develop various diseases and health conditions. For this reason, if you have cellulite, it may not be caused by anything you can identify in your lifestyle. Of course, no matter what your genetic makeup, certain actions can make conditions such as cellulite worse. Eating a poor diet, smoking or lack of exercise can all contribute to cellulite, whether or not you have a genetic tendency to develop it. Likewise, you can still find effective treatments for cellulite even if it's something that runs in your family. Your genes may make it easier or harder to control cellulite, but you can still make choices that will help you to reduce or avoid it. One theory about cellulite is that too much exercise or exertion can actually make it worse. This can be frustrating to learn, as we are constantly told that we need to exercise and it seems contradictory that exercising too much can be harmful. Yet some researchers believe that exercising beyond a certain point causes harmful molecules called free radicals to build up in our bodies. You can also become dehydrated by exercising too much, and when your cells don't get enough water, this can contribute to cellulite. This doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise, but that a moderate amount of exercise may be healthier than an excessive amount. It's best to exercise consistently without overexerting yourself.

Although cellulite is caused by the formation of fat deposits under the skin, this doesn't mean that only overweight people have this condition. On the contrary, women who are thin, overweight and in between all commonly have cellulite to some degree. This is important to understand because many people think that cellulite is simply a symptom of being overweight. If you are overweight, you should certainly take the necessary steps to lose weight for the sake of your health. Yet, if you're weight is normal, don't think that by losing weight you're going to get rid of your cellulite. You may be able to reduce cellulite by eating a healthier diet, but depriving yourself of essential nutrients will have the opposite effect. Although cellulite can be caused by many factors, it's not always easy to identify a single cause. Since your genes, hormones and lifestyle all play a role, if you want to manage this condition you really have to pay attention to everything. There are many various elements involved, with some of the possible causes, which this article has discussed.
